President Donald Trump has just announced his answer to the Chinese Silk Road, by enlisting China's arch enemy -- India.
Trump announced the creation of IMEC (India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor) - an international trade route from India to the US via Israel.
IMEC will go from India through the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Israel and Italy, and from there to the US, and will be connected by ports, railways and undersea cables. Trump has already called it “one of the greatest trade routes in history.”
The US and India plan to more than double their total bilateral trade by 2030, to $500 billion. The US will supply India with F-35 fighter jets, and India will significantly increase its purchases of oil from the US and even reduce tariffs on American goods.
