The security situation in East Asia just shifted, if you haven't noticed. Beijing is waking up to nightmares of Japanese military power, as President Trump has helped get a powerful, conservative woman elected to run Japan, by pointing out her future steerage of the nation towards policies that benefit the Japanese security policy, and not Beijing's lust for regional power.
This is a new day in Asia.
Japan's PM Sanae Takaichi -- "The Japan–U.S. alliance remains the cornerstone, but we will also deepen cooperation with allies, partners, and the Global South.
"With President Trump, we will reaffirm the unshakable bond between Japan and the United States.
"We aim to open a new chapter in the history of the Japan–U.S. alliance — in diplomacy, the economy, and security.
"Because the international situation is becoming more severe, Japan must act with resolve and clarity."
However, some caution that Takaichi is pro-vaccine is concerning. "She's a jab pusher, is there anything else to say," said independent journalist Michael Yon.
