The incident occurred around 9 p.m. EDT as the first-stage booster (nicknamed "No, It's Necessary") ignited its seven BE-4 methane-fueled engines. It quickly turned into a catastrophic failure, producing a massive fireball that destroyed the rocket, damaged pad infrastructure (including a lightning tower), and shook homes in the area.
No injuries were reported. Blue Origin confirmed all personnel were accounted for, and the company described it as an "anomaly." Jeff Bezos called it a "rough day" but stated they would investigate, rebuild, and continue.
