Secretary of State Marco Rubio assumed a larger role in peace talks with Ukraine at a meeting with Europeans in Paris where he declared the U.S. wants a ceasefire in Ukraine within a few weeks.
Rubio has been sidelined by Trump envoy Steve Witkoff and now maybe is assuming a larger role in the process.
There have been rumors that Rubio, as the U.S. chief diplomat, was angered by not having the lead role on Ukraine.
Witkoff was also at the Paris meeting, sitting next to Rubio.
The United States has "other priorities", declared the Secretary of State.
"If both sides are serious about peace then we want to help, otherwise we will move on."
This could possibly mean an American withdrawal from aid in Ukraine, and continuing the reproachmont with the Russian Federation as Trump looks to weaken China and secure American economic deals in Russia for American corporations.
