An aid to Russian President Putin, while speaking to reporters in Moscow, confirmed the United States 'made an offer' and it was 'acceptable', and that a meeting is being planned.
This is a somewhat cryptic statement but there does seem to be movement on both sides to find a way to end the conflict in Ukraine.
The Polish media outlet 'Onet' published what it says is the content of the 'agreement' Russia was offered but this is not confirmed.
- Not a peace agreement, but a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia;
- De facto recognition of Russia's territorial seizures (postponing the resolution of this issue for 49 or 99 years);
- Cancellation of most Western sanctions against Moscow;
- Return to importing Russian gas and oil in the long term;
- No guarantees on NATO non-expansion;
- No promise to suspend military support to Ukraine.
