DW reported that a far left extremist group is believed to be responsible for the arson attack on the electricity grid last Saturday in Berlin, Germany.
This resulted in around 45,000 homes in the southwestern part of the city being without power.
Some residents have been told it may take several days for the power to be fully restored.
Police says they have received a letter from a known far left extremist group taking credit for the attack.
Last September, an attack on the electricity infrastructure caused 50,000 homes to lose power. It took 60 hours to restore, reported euronews.
In this extreme faction within the far left, they want to dismantle all state structures and technology, bring on anarchy, and set up something more "egalitarian", noted Hans-Jakob Schindler of the Counter Extremism Project.
"In a classical definition, [this was] a terrorism attack," said Schindler.
