The Christian community in Lebanon is voicing concern over recent developments in the Palestinian refugee camps in-country.

Intense armed clashes shook the Burj al-Barajneh camp in the southern suburbs of Beirut, where rival Palestinian groups exchanged shots using rifles, RPGs and grenades.

Fatah militants fought against Hamas fighters and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

A few days ago a small group of Palestinians gave back their weapons to the Lebanese army. The U.S. made a big deal of this development, but most believe it was performative.

Christian activists in Lebanon, after enduring decades of negative events seemingly targeting the Christian population, are concerned this renewed violence could be the start of another development to further reduce their power and influence, and ability to control their security.

In other words -- Christians get attacked by other ethnic groups, impacting the community's well-being, and incentivizing more Christians to move to other countries where their families can be protected.

All developments in the region need to be viewed in the lens of on-going negotiations for the Lebanon, primarily directed by the U.S. State Department and White House.

In addition, all week long, the Israeli Defense Force targeted Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon. Multiple airstrikes were reported in local press.
