Lebanese media and sources are reporting heavy fighting in Southern Lebanon, with hundreds of Lebanese deaths; Israel reports single-digit casualties.
An IDF officer was seriously wounded and another soldier was moderately hurt during fighting against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, the military said Thursday, as Israel began a sweeping bombing campaign in the southern suburbs of Beirut.
Israeli ministers have declared Dahieh, the Shia sector of souther Beirut, will be flattened like Gaza.

The wounded officer marked the most serious casualty yet among Israeli troops since the ground forces began pushing deeper into southern Lebanon in recent days as part of an offensive in response to renewed cross-border rocket fire.
Both troops serve in the Givati Brigade. They were taken to a hospital for treatment, and their families were notified, the army said, without offering further details, reported Times of Israel.
In addition, an Israeli paratrooper raid reportedly went bad in the Bekaa Valley. Hezbollah claims that there are dead Israeli special forces soldiers who were surrounded in one of the houses.
It is reported that, having suffered losses, the Israeli paratroopers retreated via helicopter from Syrian airspace.
Local media reports Lebanese sources are very optimistic about the battle in the Bekaa Valley. They have already claimed dozens of Israeli soldiers killed, as well as prisoners and a downed helicopter.
Israel indirectly confirms the grave situation and losses and is making attempts to reverse the situation. Something went wrong with Israel there. Israeli aircraft are currently striking in the Bekka Valley, trying to support the actions of the remaining part of the landing force, reports local media.
"Apparently there was some sort of special op launched by the Israelis two night ago. It failed apparently and they had to retreat. They might've been probing defences or something. The fog of war is quite thick at this stage tbh," reported a source to CDM in Beirut.
