Another wave of US fighter jets is heading to the Middle East this morning to support the ongoing Iran war.
Coronet East 116 departed Aviano Air Base in the pre-dawn hours Tuesday with six F-16C Fighting Falcons of the 482nd Fighter Wing, tail codes "TABOR41" through "TABOR46". The formation was supported by KC-135R tanker "CLEAN94," which departed from Bucharest's Henri Coanda International Airport (Otopeni) to provide aerial refueling. The movement was first flagged by open-source military aviation tracker @DefenceGeek and confirmed by OSINT site Sh1n.
It is the second package of F-16Cs from the 482nd Fighter Wing in as many days. "TABOR31" through "TABOR36" completed the same trans-Atlantic-to-CENTCOM transit the previous day, supported by tanker "CLEAN14." Back-to-back packages from the same unit signal a deliberate surge, not routine rotation.
Headquartered at Homestead Air Reserve Base in Florida, the 482nd Fighter Wing is a reserve component unit the Air Force has drawn into the Iran war rotation as Washington sustains continuous operations across the CENTCOM theater. The F-16C is a multirole platform capable of close air support, precision ground strike, and air patrol missions.
Aviano Air Base in northeastern Italy is a standard trans-Atlantic staging point for US aircraft deploying to the Gulf. CENTCOM-controlled bases across the region have seen a steady influx of combat aircraft since major operations against Iran commenced in February 2026.
Whether this latest buildup precedes renewed air operations, provides leverage ahead of ongoing diplomatic channels with Tehran, or simply sustains standing force requirements is not publicly known — but the movement is real, confirmed, and consistent with a sustained American combat posture in the region.
