Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott has proposed a citywide curfew for minors over the summer due to gunfire ringing out in the city's Inner Harbor district Sunday night, which left spring breakers running through the streets in a scene of chaos.

According to Baltimore City Police Commissioner Michael Harrison, more than 200 "young people" took off running after shots were fired a mete 50 feet from police officers. A 14 and 16-year-old suffered gunshot wounds in the incident.

A video posted to Twitter shows scores of young people sprinting through the streets after the gunfire rang out as Baltimore police attempted to break up a large fight.

"Either they [the kids] don't care about consequences or don't believe the consequences, and they have no respect for human life or sanctity of life or authority to pull off that brazen cowardly act right there in the presence of police officers," Harrison added.

According to Mayor Scott, the city's youth could expect a curfew for the remainder of the summer months.

"I want everyone to hear me and hear me very clearly. We are going back to the old days. We will be enforcing the use of youth curfew in Baltimore as we move into the later Spring and Summer months," Scott said.

Shootings among the city's youth population are just one of several uphill battles Baltimore has faced in recent years as Democratic leadership has led to a severe rise in murders, a burgeoning opioid crisis, and a derelict school system.
