President Donald Trump announced that he has banned three news organizations from attending events at the White House.
Trump announced the ban in a Truth Social post, stating that he was "proud" to announce that he was banning "Fake News CNN, MSNOW, and Politico" from the White House. "Constant 'reporting' of FAKE NEWS by Media Outlets shouldn't be allowed to happen when writing or reporting about the President of the United States, the Trump Administration, or the United States of America," he added. Other "Fake News Media Outlets" would "follow".
The ban represents the most extreme action taken by Trump against the legacy media since returning to the White House. With the midterm elections taking place in just weeks, the message to the media is clear: It is no longer going to be business as usual and they will be held accountable for their actions.
As of now the White House is operating without a press secretary. Therefore, it will be various administration officials that enforce the ban and such actions would include revoking press credentials and/or removing them from the press pool for the President and/or Vice President.
These three media outlets have been some of the most aggressive anti-Trump coverage providers since he announced his candidacy for President in 2015. For years they peddled fabricated stories about Russia Collusion, a four-year fake news reckoning called the Impeachment of President Trump and other false diatribes against him. But their worst offense was their systematic effort to bury verified true stories like the Hunter Biden Laptop Scandal story to influence the outcome of Presidential Elections.
Of course, the "press" is already shrieking about the "ban," as if they are entitled to continue to have free access to Trump, to taxpayers' funded White House press corps, and to continue to pretend that they are a "legitimate news source" despite years of spreading knowingly false stories about the President and his family.
He warned that more outlets would be banned and the story will likely dominate the news cycle the rest of the weekend.
