Trump says he’ll “take a look” when asked about deporting Elon Musk from the U.S.
Elon Musk has shown previously his displeasure with President Trump's 'Big Beautiful Bill', focusing primarily with what Musk calls 'out of control spending'.
Musk later walked back some of his more bombastic comments.
Now, Musk is again posting on his social media platform - X - that a new party is needed to combat the 'uniparty' which controls DC.
President Trump responded by threatening to withhold government subsidies to Musk's corporations.
Elon Musk knew, long before he so strongly Endorsed me for President, that I was strongly against the EV Mandate. It is ridiculous, and was always a major part of my campaign. Electric cars are fine, but not everyone should be forced to own one. Elon may get more subsidy than any human being in history, by far, and without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa. No more Rocket launches, Satellites, or Electric Car Production, and our Country would save a FORTUNE. Perhaps we should have DOGE take a good, hard, look at this? BIG MONEY TO BE SAVED!!!
A third party has been tried before, most notably Ross Perot in the 1990s, which resulted in George H. W. Bush becoming a one-term president, and Bill Clinton rising to power.
Musk is correct on the out of control government spending, but is likely more upset about the threat of losing government subsidies and contracts.
President Trump and his team have highlighted that they control a very slim margin in Congress and have to keep spending to get his agenda passed. Treasury Secretary Bessent has suggested the U.S. grow its way out of its sovereign debt crisis.
