First it was announced that a grizzly bear attacked an elementary school group in the Bella Coola area in British Columbia, injuring 11, some critically, and the town instructed its residents to stay indoors.

Then news came forward that a grizzly bear with two cubs had broken into a house, smashing through the front door, and causing significant damage.

The kitchen was demolished. “I’m talking counters, cupboards, drawers, glasses, plates, and everything else,” said the resident.

The three bears also wrecked a trailer on the property and a furnace. They also dragged a stove across a room.

Bella Coola is geographically between Vancouver and Prince Rupert.

The B. C. Wildlife Federation says that conflicts with grizzly bears will likely keep increasing. A grizzly hunt was ended in 2017, and since, attacks / conflicts have doubled "to nearly 1000 a year".

Shannon Lansdowne, an owner and operator of an area lodge, whose property has been attacked by grizzly bears, said, "There needs to be some solutions, or more people WILL be attacked, and more people will die."
