As U.S. President Donald Trump looks to pressure both sides to the negotiating table to find the path to peace, Ukrainian President Zelenskiy visits Berlin to meet with German Chancellor Merz for the third time, as Merz becomes Zelenskiy's 'go to' European leader for more weapons and support for continuing the war.

Germany plans to allocate millions to support Ukraine’s defense industry in independently developing and mass-producing cruise missiles with a range of up to 2,500 kilometers, reports Bild. However, Germany will not supply Taurus long-range missiles, as the issue is currently considered “taboo” within the government.

Russia continues to be open to continued negotiations but warns any outcome must meet its priorities. The Kremlin media units continue to portray Moscow as the 'adult in the room', continuing to offer talks, even with the U.S. as mediator as American continues to supply billions of military aid to Kyiv.

"We understand Trump wants a speedy settlement in Ukraine but, just like the US, Russia has its national interests that we are not willing to sacrifice", said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

Russia's demands for a non-nuclear and neutral status for Ukraine must be met in any form of conflict resolution, said Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov:

Russia insisted on the abolition of discriminatory laws against Russian speakers and other languages such as Hungarian at the meeting with Ukraine in Istanbul and will continue to do so at the next round.

Reuterss declare Putin’s conditions to end the war include a written pledge to halt NATO’s eastward expansion — officially excluding Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova, and other ex-Soviet states from membership.

Russia also wants Ukrainian neutrality, some Western sanctions lifted, frozen assets returned, and protection for Russian-speaking Ukrainians.

If peace on his terms fails, Putin aims to show Ukrainians and Europeans through military gains that “peace tomorrow will be even more painful," declared the Kremlin.

The Kremlin said today Putin's meeting with Zelensky is possible, but it should be the result of specific agreements between the delegations.

Russia is preparing for the next round of negotiations with Ukraine and will continue contacts with the Americans.

Kremlin aide Ushakov said today, "The Kremlin is proceeding from the fact that Trump is insufficiently informed about what is happening in the context of the confrontation between Russia and Ukraine."
