The venue for a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart, Donald Trump, has been agreed and will be announced later, said Kremlin Aide Yury Ushakov reported Russian state news agency TASS.

"We have launched work to discuss the parameters of such a meeting and the venue for it jointly with our American colleagues now," Ushakov said.

"By the way, I’d like to note that the venue [for a Putin-Trump meeting], too, has been agreed in principle and will be announced a bit later," he added.

Trump envoy Steve Witkoff has completed a meeting with Russian President Putin in Moscow. The meeting lasted three hours.

President Trump announced this morning he will make an announcement today at 4:30pm EST. The issue will likely be additional tariffs on the Russian Federation, and its trading partners, in a bid to force an end to the Ukraine conflict.

Yesterday, Moscow showed openness to a ceasefire on drone attacks against infrastructure, but the war continues.

Trump has reversed his previous pressure on the Ukrainian government to make peace.

Witkoff arrived in Moscow at about 7 a.m. (GMT +3) on Wednesday. He was met at Vnukovo-2 Airport by the Russian President's Special Representative for Investment and Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund Kirill Dmitriev. An hour later, they walked together in the capital's Zaryadye Park, located within walking distance of the Kremlin, reported Russian state news agency TASS.

This is Witkoff's fifth visit to Russia since the beginning of the year. Last time the US leader's special envoy came to Moscow for talks was on April 25, and before that - on April 11 to St. Petersburg. Putin received him on both occasions.

Both the U.S. and Russia have worked recently to tone down nuclear rhetoric after Trump and former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev escalated nuclear threats on social media.
