Russia prepares for the meeting with President Trump at Elmendorf Joint Base in Anchorage, AK.
The meeting between Putin and Trump will begin tomorrow at 22:30 Moscow time with a one-on-one conversation in the presence of interpreters, the Kremlin confirmed. Putin and Trump will then hold a joint press conference for the media.
Lavrov, Ushakov, Belousov, Siluanov, and Dmitriev joined the Russian delegation at the summit in Alaska, the Kremlin reported.
Putin and Trump's negotiations with delegations will take place according to the "5 on 5" formula.
"Kirill Dmitriev will take part in the summit of the leaders of Russia and the US on August 15, Friday, as part of the official delegation," reported Russian state news agency TASS.
Putin, as part of preparations for the meeting in Alaska, held a meeting with members of Russia's top leadership, as well as representatives of the government and the presidential administration.
Now, the onus is on Putin: agree to a ceasefire or show real movement or there will be severe repercussions. Putin tapped Trump along, then requested this meeting, and now he has to deliver, writes Axios.
The duration of the talks between Putin and Trump will depend on how the discussion goes, declared Ushakov. Putin and Trump will discuss trade and economic cooperation where there is a huge untapped potential, he said.
"As for the agenda of the summit, it must be obvious to everyone that the focus will be on efforts to resolve the Ukraine crisis, particularly given the discussions that took place at the Kremlin on August 6, which involved US Special Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff," Ushakov specified, reported TASS.
"But of course, broader issues related to ensuring peace and security, as well as pressing regional and international issues, will also be touched upon," the Russian presidential aide added.
