Belarusian President Lukashenko declared earlier today, "If Trump insists he's ready to take all freed prisoners, let's try to make a deal."
So, a deal was made as Trump's envoy arrived in Minsk - Lukashenko met with U.S. Special Envoy Deputy for Ukraine John Cole. The meeting lasted about 5 hours.
The U.S. lifted sanctions on Belarusian airline Belavia in exchange for the release of 52 Belarusian political prisoners.
The U.S. also plans to reopen its embassy in Minsk.
Trump also gave Lukashenko cufflinks featuring the White House.
