Overnight, Swedish police were alerted after multiple residents on Sturkö and Tjurkö reported drones flying in the area.
Witnesses described two large drones with red and green lights, similar to those recently seen over Denmark, Norway, and southern Sweden.
The drones flew just a few kilometers from Sweden’s main naval base in Karlskrona.
The Trump administration has provided some information on the drone activity.
In a press conference earlier in the year, Press Secretary Leavitt said the drones spotted over New Jersey and New York in December had been authorized by the Federal Aviation Administration for "research purposes."
"An update on the New Jersey drones. After research and study, the drones flying over New Jersey in large numbers were authorized to be flown by the FAA for research and various other reasons. Many of these drones are hobbyist and recreational drones that enjoy flying drones."
