CDM has learned that the Trump White House is actively working to end the war in Ukraine, with Sunday’s demand on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to stop attacks on Russian energy infrastructure the latest manifestation of the administration’s behind-the-scenes efforts to bring hostilities to an end and secure a ceasefire.
The shift marks a break with the globalist infrastructure in Europe that is pushing for a global war with the Russian Federation.
Sources with knowledge of internal administration discussions told CDM that Sunday’s public prodding of the Ukrainian leader to cease attacking energy infrastructure is merely the latest facet of a much more sweeping effort currently underway at the White House. The administration has, according to sources, begun pressing Ukraine on multiple fronts to reduce provocations against Russian territory that could complicate ongoing peace negotiations — with strikes on Russian energy infrastructure viewed internally as counterproductive to a negotiated settlement.
President Donald Trump on Sunday called on Zelensky to stop targeting Russia’s diesel infrastructure, saying the strikes are causing a global fuel shortage and “hurting the world.” Trump made the remarks during a visit to the Irish Open in western Ireland, held at a golf course owned by his family.
“Mr. Zelensky has to do one thing: He has to stop knocking out diesel fuel in Russia,” Trump told reporters. “We spoke to Mr. Zelensky about it. There are plenty of other targets. Don’t hit diesel fuel. That’s hurting the world.”
Trump placed blame for the shortage squarely on the Russia-Ukraine war, not the Middle East. “The global shortage isn’t done by the Middle East; this is done by what’s happening with Russia and Ukraine,” he said.
Ukraine has carried out a sustained campaign of long-range drone attacks against Russian oil refineries in recent months, reducing Russian fuel production and contributing to domestic fuel shortages inside Russia. Kyiv maintains the refineries are legitimate military targets. But the campaign has contributed to a surge in global diesel prices — the national average in the United States exceeded $6 a gallon for the first time on Thursday, according to price tracker GasBuddy. Diesel powers trucks, trains, ships, and agricultural equipment, meaning supply disruptions carry broad economic consequences for American consumers and businesses.
Russia has separately lowered its oil production expectations as the war continues to weigh on its energy sector. A government draft forecast seen by Reuters put Russian oil output this year at a 17-year low. Moscow has also revised its fuel export projections for 2026 and 2027 downward because of the conflict.
CDM’s sources indicate the administration views the coming weeks as a critical window for diplomatic progress. Trump’s direct and public intervention with Zelensky on Sunday is a signal that the White House’s patience with the Ukrainian energy strike campaign is running out — and that the broader push to end the war is gaining internal momentum.
