The 'Grynch' tells some alternative facts
Some housekeeping up front.
I am not anti-Ukrainian. I have been to the front in Donbass. I was there during the 2022 invasion, dodging Russia paratroopers and cruise missiles in Kyiv; I walked across the Moldovan border. I appeared before House Oversight Committee attorneys on Ukraine. I had a Ukrainian refugee family in my house for eight months. I have a lot of friends in Ukraine. The Ukrainian people have been good to me.
However, we are not helping the people of Ukraine. We are killing them, decimating the society, and their culture by keeping this war going, in favor of some 'new culture' in the future, I'm afraid.
My colleague, former Special Unit Commander Pete Blaber, and I host a Ukraine SitRep podcast weekly to detail our point of view, which is the truth.
The truth is what is important. Telling the truth allows for good foreign policy. Above all, we don't want American forces involved in the Ukraine conflict.
That is why I was disturbed when I heard NATO's SACEUR General Alexus Grynkewich describe what is going on in the Ukraine war this way:
"The Ukrainians are taking casualties too, but the Russians are taking many, many more casualties killed in action every single month," said Grynkewich recently at the Munich Security Forum.
"That has long-term impacts on what Russia's future viability is and what kind of prosperity they could have at some point in the future, long after this conflict is over."
Unfortunately for the General, and the Ukrainian people for that matter, his statements are simply not true.
Here's some evidence to that fact.
- The Russians have an order of magnitude higher population. It is Ukraine who's viability in the future is in doubt, due to NATO's policies of running a proxy war against the Russian Federation, fighting to the last Ukrainian. Ukraine has lost about half her population to death and emigration.
- Ukraine is 'mobilizing' every man it can find on the street. 'Mobilization' is a bad description. 'Kidnapping for certain death' is a better way to put it. There are tens of thousands of videos online of this forced consription. It is cruel and barbaric. You can find the videos here. Free nations, people who want to fight for their freedom, don't get press-ganged like this. This isn't happening in the Russian Federation, which has more volunteers than she needs to prosecute this conflict of attrition.
- The body exchange ratio between Russia and Ukraine has been consistently around 10 to 1, sometimes lower, sometimes higher. The Russians bring 10 Ukrainian bodies to exchange for one.
- Polish Prime Minister Tusk last week said Ukraine is losing 27,000 soldiers a month.
As a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy like General Grynkewich, I feel the need to remind him of our honor code, which we should all strive to live up to, even if most of us aren't successful all of the time in that endevour.
“We will not lie, steal, or cheat, nor tolerate among us anyone who does.”
USAFA Honor Code
It bothers me this man is advising the President of the United States on the Ukraine war. We can add the Grynch to the long line of former flag officers who have decided to spread untruths for some unknown reason — Petraeus, Keane, Cavoli, Hodges and Kellogg are some that come to mind.
You can hear the General's own words in the video. If the Rumble embed doesn't load, go here.
