CDM has been on the ground in Beirut speaking with Christian survivors of the Syrian civil war. It is obvious to anyone studying this conflict, and the resulting destruction of the country, that the Christian community was targeted for annihilation, one of many agendas of the conflict under the guise of 'taking out Assad'.
Almost all inhabitants of Christian villages were killed, or left the region. Parents took children and fled to Lebanon, where many have been able to continue their education. The survivors I spoke with were very thankful for that, for the good Christians of Beirut who helped them when they arrived.
"The Christians were safe under the government of Bashar Assad. We were allowed to live freely and normally. No more," said one survivor.
"There are only a few Christian families left in Syria."
This is unfortunately the reality across many regions of the Middle East.
The church bombing in June of this year against a Greek Orthodox church in Damascus, responsibility claimed by ISIS, was horrific, all of those bombed were innocent. "The were simply going to pray before school," I was told.

Much of what I have learned in-country goes against the prevailing media narrative, including that Russia was bad to the Christian community.
"The Russians helped our country. They brought money to help construct buildings and helped the people," said one male refugee I spoke with from Syria.
"I think the Syrian civil war was to target the Christian population. They said a 'revolution' but it was a fake revolution, meant to destroy the country, they simply started killing us.
"There are hardly any Christians left in Syria. We cannot go back, until the government changes and the war ends."
The current Golani Sunni regime installed by Western intelligence, along with Turkey, and possibly Israel, is despised by the former Christian inhabitants of Syria.
"Life for Christians in Syria is now terrible. They are not free. They are taking them back hundreds of years to horrible times, to medieval behavior.
"We need war to end and the government to change, so we can rebuild our communities."
