President Trump has made quite an effort recently to praise Turkish President Recipe Erdogan, calling him a great man, a strong man, in public.

This public buttering up has several agendas behind it.

First, Trump wants a peace deal in Gaza, and he wants Erdogan involved, to placate Hamas. As the leader of the remains of the Ottoman Empire, and the man who turned secular Turkey into an Islamic state, Erdogan is key to achieving an end to the conflict.

Second, Erdogan is a roadblock to Israel in the Middle East, and is becoming an impediment to Israel in The White House, as Trump needs Erdogan to achieve peace, and further American interests in the Middle East, and Central Asia. Trump wants help confronting Netanyahu as the Israeli PM expands the conflicts around The Jewish State.

Turkey under Erdogan is staunchly anti-Israel, to the point of soft combat in Syria. Israel bombed western Syrian air bases earlier in the year to prevent Turkey from moving forces into the region.

Also, Trump even admitted it was primarily Erdogan who brought down Assad. Erik Prince has told CDM this was primarily done with Turkish special forces. Erdogan is instrumental in controlling the new Golani Syrian government.

However, Ergodan also presents problems for the Trump administration. For one, the Turkish leader is anti-Christian, and has worked in conjunction with Muslim Azerbaijan to harm the interests of Christian Armenia.

Interestingly enough, Israel worked also with Azerbaijan against Armenia in the recent conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, providing Baku weapons and technology in the war.

Today, Erdogan gave a speech in which he said...

"If peace is truly desired, Israel's attacks must be stopped immediately.

"The Palestinian resistance organization Hamas has responded very positively to Trump’s peace plan, thereby clearly demonstrating its will for peace.

"They [The Israeli government] have surpassed even Hitler in crimes of genocide."
