CDM has written extensively about the lack of focus by successive American governments on the Christian community in the Levant. Trump Envoy Tom Barrack recently used the term 'war lords' when discussing Christian leadership in Lebanon, while praising actual Sunni war lords who just massacred earlier this year several thousand Christians in southern Syria. You can read our recent article on his interview in early November below.
In that article, we outlined the following history of attacks on Christians in Lebanon:
First, 500,000 Palestinians were moved in-country in the early 1970s, which led to a civil war of survival for the Christian community. They lost the conflict due to lack of Western support, and the power structure the Maronite population had enjoyed in-country evaporated.
Then, as the first Gulf War approached, George H. W. Bush allowed the Syrians to attack the Lebanese Christian community in return for joining his effort against Saddam Hussein.
Then came the Syrian civil war which saw two million Syrian Sunni militants flee and enter Lebanon. The war is over, but they have not returned. These Sunni refugees represent an existential threat to the Christian population in Lebanon, according to Christian leaders on the ground.
The 'accidental bomb blast' which rocked the Christian sector in 2020, destroyed Christian economic power. Many believe the blast was a deliberate attack.
Finally, the 'color revolution' engineered by Soros elements in 2019 destroyed the Lebanese banking system, and Christian economic power.
Now, Tom Barrack is saying the Christian population is irrelevant.
It is disingenuous to ignore the many U.S.-enabled attacks on the Lebanese state in describing Lebanon's current state of affairs.
Yesterday US Envoy Tom Barrack said in the interview below, "Lebanon is the last comma of Christianity in a very difficult novel. It holds a very special place.
"The Lebanese hate it when I say this, but it's a totally failed state."
Regarding the Sunnis, who just massacred thousands of Christians earlier in the year in Southern Syria, Barrack said, "Their attitude with us has been totally cooperative. Everything we've asked them to do — and dragging them towards Israel — they're doing. Israel is not trusting yet, so it's slower."
It is obvious the Trump administration is not really concerned about the survival of Christianity in the Middle East. They are concerned about the relationship with Turkey, with Israel, Syria, and Iran.
Christians have been wiped off the face of the map in Iraq and Syria due to American policy.
Now Lebanese Christians are in the crosshairs.
Why is that?
