BEIRUT - The Trump administration has made very public statements and threats to the Nigerian government to stop the murder of Christians by Sunni Muslim jihadists. However, The White House is silent as a not-so-quiet movement takes place to destroy the ancient Lebanese Christian community in the Middle East.
On the anniversary of the ascension of the Al-Sharaa government in Syria, Sunni Muslims in Lebanon came out in force over the last several days in the capital of Beirut and other major cities in-country.
Multiple clashes were reported with Lebanese security forces and a Christmas tree ceremony was firebombed.
The development comes as the Trump administration signals, even enables, a Sunni takeover of Lebanon and destruction of the only Christian nation in the region.
CDM has written extensively on Trump Envoy Tom Barrack's recent comments that seem to support these developments, and foreshadow a policy of fostering the Syrian takeover of the Lebanese state, something that would benefit the national security of Israel by removing the Iranian-backed Hezbollah militia from any hope of establishing further political power. The development would also be in the interests of Sunni Turkey and its desires which have been long clear in the Levant. The Ottoman Empire is being reborn.
Unfortunately, this outcome would be devastating for Christians in Lebanon and across the Middle East.
Barrack has pushed back on allegations he supports a Syrian takeover of Lebanon, but many Lebanese are very concerned.
CDM has written extensively about the two million plus Sunni Syrian refugees in Lebanon that refuse to return home after the fall of the Assad regime. The refugees are to this day still paid by the UNHCR to stay in Lebanon. They are also paid by a network of EU NGOs to remain. When pressed, excuses of economic hardship are provided. Nothing is said about the economic and demographic devastation the refugees are inflicting on the Christian community in Lebanon.
Barrack said in a recent interview, "Lebanon is the last comma of Christianity in a very difficult novel. It holds a very special place."
With Assad gone, the Sunni movement in the Levant is sensing a new opportunity to destroy Christian Lebanon. This agenda was on display yesterday in Beirut.
"Beirut is forever ours!" they chanted.

Yeah, Israel did this...
