UPDATE: Houthis announce closure of Bab al Mandab Strait -- Following Iran’s escalation, the Houthis issued a dramatic announcement saying they are closing the Bab al Mandab Strait.
The Bab al Mandab Strait is one of the world’s most important shipping routes, linking the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden and the route toward the Suez Canal, reports Israeli Live News.
If the Houthis try to enforce the closure, it could disrupt shipping between Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, raise transport costs, and create major pressure on Israel and global trade.
