Ben-Gvir gave comments to the media today on the situation in the Middle East.
Ben-Gvir was exempted from IDF service due to his extreme right-wing views and has eight criminal convictions, including incitement to racism and support for the terrorist organization Kach. As a lawyer, he gained notoriety defending Jewish extremists and has a long history of provocative actions, such as threatening Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin shortly before his 1995 assassination. Yet, Ben-Gvir maintains a central role in forming Likud policy.
"Lebanon— all of Lebanon—should become our playground. All of Lebanon should be our target. And they tell me, "Wait a second, there is Lebanon and there is Hezbollah." I do not accept this artificial approach.
"With all his love for the State of Israel, Trump will not have to answer to the residents or to the public. My son is in Lebanon today—not Trump's son.
"Therefore, I say there is a red line. If Trump tells Netanyahu to leave Lebanon, the answer should be: "Mr. President, no."
"And not only no to leaving Lebanon, but also no to statements like, "Don't strike this place" or "Don't strike that place." I very, very much hope that Netanyahu will stand firm against Trump. He stood firm against Obama, he stood firm against other presidents, he stood firm against Biden, and he can stand firm against Trump.
"A thousand Lebanese mothers may cry, but not a single Israeli mother."
