President Trump announced that U.S. forces have begun attacking Iranian military targets near the Strait of Hormuz in retaliation for Iran's attempt to place sea mines in the waterway and to launch eight missiles at a U.S. military base in Jordan.
The statement from the President was a direct posting to his Truth Social account, and he said the strikes against Iran were already underway. The posting was unusual in that it was a notification of military action in progress.

If the failed Nation of Iran retaliates, they will be hit again at a much harder and higher level… when it is over, there will be very little left of the Islamic Republic of Iran!"

Iran laid sea mines in one of the world's most critical shipping waterways – through which over 20% of the world's oil supply travels – crossing a line the Trump administration had made clear it would not tolerate. All eight missiles fired at the Jordanian base were intercepted by U.S. air defenses and no American lives were lost in the attack.
The sea mines were neutralized as well, Trump said. "The Strait of Hormuz is now completely mine-free," the President wrote. "The mines that were placed by Iran have all been completely removed or blown up."
U.S. Central Command has been waging a campaign of dozens of strikes against Iranian military targets since the Hormuz crisis began several months ago, systematically destroying Iran's coastal defenses, missile depots, drone capabilities, naval forces and other military assets. Tuesday's operation represents a significant escalation in both scope and presidential messaging.
Iran's options for retaliation are dwindling. Its air defenses have been hit in repeated strikes. The small boats of the IRGC Navy — the regime's primary instrument of harassment against commercial shipping — have been largely destroyed. The U.S. Navy now controls the waterway.
Trump's warning that "very little will be left of the Islamic Republic of Iran" carries particular weight given the trajectory of the conflict. This is not diplomatic language. This is the Commander in Chief who has already demonstrated the willingness to follow through — and Tehran knows it.
Every decision Iran has made since this conflict began has resulted in greater destruction of its military capability. The regime that promised it would never yield has now been told, in the bluntest of terms, what the alternative looks like.
Iran will ask for a ceasefire while they "negotiate". Negotiations will last until Iran rearms (to the extent possible). Iran will set mines or launch missiles at America and renig on their agreements. AGAIN.
