25 years after 3,000 people tragically lost their lives on September 11, the families of the victims are requesting that the New York City Mayor stays away from the 9/11 Memorials. However, the Mayor is refusing to comply with their request.
New York City's Muslim Mayor, Zohran Mamdani, confirmed via an email sent to multiple individuals on September 6th that he would be attending the 25th Anniversary of the 9/11 attacks at Ground Zero. A Change.org petition was started by Giovanni Galante who lost his wife Grace on the 105th floor of the North Tower on that fateful day and has gained over 100,000+ signatures thus far. The petition is asking officials to deny Mamdani's request to attend the 25th Anniversary ceremony at Ground Zero.
This is not just a matter of feeling. Ramzi Kassem is Mamdani's chief counsel. Kassem represents Ahmed al-Darbi, a senior al-Qaeda operative who was convicted of his role in planning and supplying explosives for the 2002 French oil tanker bombing in Aden. The sister of al-Darbi was married to Khalid al-Mihdhar, one of the 9/11 hijackers who flew a plane into the Pentagon. And yesterday, on the eve of the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on New York City, Mamdani signed two executive orders "honoring the victims of 9/11". He then passed the pen to Kassem to sign the orders.
"The video was calculated to go out on the Friday before 9/11," said retired NYPD detective Michael Alcazar, in The Post. The video was released at a ceremony to honor the victims of 9/11, and not the mayor or his administration.
The video has gone viral. Vicki Paladino, Council Member, said "Kassem doesn't even belong in this country, much less in our government." The brother of Michael Warchola, a firefighter who was killed in the North Tower of the World Trade Center by Ladder 5, also commented on the matter saying, "I think it clearly shows where Mayor's loyalties are."
Associations that are hostile to America include support of Imam Siraj Wahhaj, an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center Bombing, who is one of the nation's foremost Muslim leaders, according to Mamdani. Kassem is also associated with pro-Palestinian Campus encampment leader at Columbia University, Mahmoud Khalil, who was recently arrested by ICE.
The records from the administration of Mayor Mamdani show that officials from the City had lied to the public about the quality of the air at Ground Zero following the attacks.
The Steel Across America tour, featuring a 21-foot beam from the South Tower of the WTC, is currently making its way to the White House Ellipse. Although President Trump will not be attending the Ground Zero ceremonies, JD Vance is expected to be there.
More than 100,000 people signed the petition asking for Mamdani to stay away from the memorial services. The families of the 3,000 victims of the attack are asking for one thing: for their mayor to stay away from their memorial services.
