The U.S. government will not be shutting down at least through September of this year, as the Senate has passed the Trump budget. The House passed the budget earlier this week.
This is a victory for The White House and the Trump work to rationalize the Federal leviathan.
The final vote of 54-46 - which did not require 60 votes (only the previous Cloture vote did), was mostly along party lines - with two members of the Democratic caucus voting for the bill; Sens. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) - who is retiring at the end of her term, and Angus King (Maine). Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), as expected, voted no, reported ZH.
The bill will now move to President Donald Trump's desk, who will have to sign it before midnight to avert a shutdown. Assuming that's the case (and we do assume that), we get to do this all over again in September. Joy of joys!

What budget? There was no passing of a budget. It was a Continuing Resolution (CR). The entire purpose of a CR is to avoid creating a budget, simply contiuing spending from old budgets. It has been many years since Congress passed a budget. The purpose of this is for politicians to avoid taking a stand on buget issues. It reminds me of the British Parliament, post King Charles the 1st. Quit calling this a budget.
