The United Nations (UN) General Assembly last week adopted a political declaration on “pandemic prevention, preparedness and response,” by a vote of 153-3 – with the United States, Israel, and Argentina as the only nations rejecting it, and New Zealand and Paraguay abstaining.
A report on the vote, dated October 12, at UN News said the declaration “is political and non-binding.”
“It calls for stronger national, regional and international cooperation, guided by science, equity and respect for human rights, and it welcomes last year’s landmark adoption of the World Health Organization (WHO) Pandemic Agreement,” the news report stated.
“WHO welcomes this strong commitment by UN Member States to continue working together on pandemic prevention, preparedness and response,” said WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
“The world has come a long way since COVID-19,” he added. “We urge countries to now fulfil the commitments they have made – especially to finalize negotiations on the Pathogen Access and Benefit Sharing system (PABS) annex, so the WHO Pandemic Agreement can be opened for signature, begin the process of ratification and enter into force as international law.”
The report continued, nevertheless, that “[t]alks have stalled amid a standoff between developing countries and some high-income European nations together with the US,” adding that the United States “had previously cited ‘divisive ideologies that lack definitional consensus’ as well as the declaration’s references to the continuing annex negotiations.”
In a post Thursday by The Gold Report’s Yudi Sherman, the author observed how the vote demonstrates that much of the world has bought into the idea that “equity” includes “global health governance, gender ideology, and reproductive rights” – all which have been rejected by the U.S.
The pandemic declaration, Sherman also noted, “backs the World Health Organization’s push for a bigger role in handling health emergencies. It also calls for countries to close a $15 billion yearly gap in pandemic preparedness funding.”
To fulfill its goal of “equity,” the declaration calls for government-run universal healthcare coverage, the promotion of gender equality, and ensuring abortion is available to all who want it.
“American delegates objected to that part,” Sherman wrote. “They said the language on reproductive health, gender ideology, and comprehensive sexuality education hurts children and undercuts the role of parents.”
The leftist narratives embedded in the UN’s pandemic declaration assert that abortion rights and gender ideology are essential for “equity,” and those who oppose them are, as the New York Times accused, “rich nations” who reject the idea of “preparing for future pandemics.”
Indeed, the left and its allies in both the media and at the UN are skillful at developing “buzzwords” that become easily embedded in our culture.

On Tuesday, Rebecca Oas, Ph.D., director of research for the Center for Family and Human Rights (C-Fam) in Washington, D.C., pointed out the left’s latest “buzzword” – one that she describes as “dangerous.”
“The term ‘reproductive violence’ has recently started appearing in the reports of UN agencies and human rights experts, and has been proposed for inclusion in negotiated resolutions,” Oas wrote. “Its proponents argue that it draws attention to specific harmful practices like forced abortion and sterilization or even gestational surrogacy. At the same time, those seeking to define the term also use it to condemn abortion restrictions, framing forced abortion and denial of abortion as equally violent acts.”
Oas wrote that because the left is apparently attempting to usurp the term for its own purposes of promoting abortion, “’reproductive violence’ should be avoided in UN policy.”
“[I]t is already being used in the UN system to promote abortion and frame the pro-life position as a source of violence,” she alerted.
Under the banner of “equity,” the UN continues to push for universal acceptance of all things “reproductive” and gender-related.
A UN organization called “UN Women: For All Women and Girls” announced its plans in September to create a global Artificial Intelligence (AI) platform that will “embed gender equality principles” into all new AI platforms.
“UN Women claims current AI platforms use biased information and discriminatory algorithms, so the massive UN agency for women is gathering researchers, governments, technology companies, digital experts and women’s rights organizations to establish an AI hub that will influence, design and govern technology,” C-Fam also reported last week.
“The artificial intelligence systems we build today will shape how we live and work tomorrow,” Sima Bahous, under-secretary-general and executive director of UN Women, said in a statement. “If women are missing from their design and governance, we risk carrying the inequalities of the present into the future.”
But, as C-Fam observed, in 2025, the U.S. soundly rejected UN Women’s four-year strategic plan “because it promoted gender ideology and abortion in an attempt to eradicate biological reality and sex with references to ‘sexual orientation and gender identity,’ ‘sexual and reproductive health and rights,’ and ‘intersectionality.’”
In August, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. released a joint statement announcing that the U.S. would serve as Secretariat of the Geneva Consensus Declaration, a group, they observed, that has now “grown to include more than 40 signatories.”
The Declaration was established in 2020 during the first Trump administration with a handful of countries who shared the U.S.’s support for families and the promotion of life at all stages.
Although Joe Biden withdrew the U.S. from the Declaration during his term of office, President Trump rejoined in 2025 when he returned to the White House.
As Secretaries Rubio and Kennedy stated:
The Declaration has four main objectives: to secure meaningful health and development gains for women; to protect life at all stages; to defend the family as the fundamental unit of society; and to work together across the UN system to realize these values.
“The Trump Administration is committed to supporting families, promoting women’s health, and protecting children at all stages of life,” the secretaries stated. “Investing in women’s health and well-being saves lives, allows women and girls more opportunities, and protects the family as the fundamental unit of society.”

US out of the UN. UN out of the US.
Don't fund that beast!
