In the Norwich, CT mayorial debate earlier this week, Democratic candidate Singh Swarnjit referred to ICE detentions as "kidnapping". Some in the crowd cheered.
He posted this on his Instagram account.
Singh Swarnjit was responding to an audience question, "What is your position on working with the law enforcement with regards to ICE?"
Swarnjit replied, "As a mayor, I don't want the hard-working people of Norwich to be kidnapped by the ICE...for me, it's about saving our Constitution, saving our real American values. The bottom line is our democracy. I want them to do due process on whatever they are doing."
The three mayoral candidates are "Democrat Alderman Swarnjit Singh, Republican Alderwoman Stacy Gould and petitioning Republican candidate Marcia Wilbur, who did not secure an endorsement from her party", according to The Day newspaper based in nearby New London, CT.
The winner will succeed two-term Republican mayor Peter Nystrom, who can not run again due to term limits.
Marcia Wilbur responded to CDM, "As Americans, we respect the rule of law— that’s what protects our hard-working families from chaos. It’s confusing to hear Democrats talk about 'kidnapping' and 'resisting' while everyday Americans are simply asking for safe communities and secure borders."
"We don’t resist our own nation — we defend it," added Wilbur. "Resistance is not representation."
Singh's inflammatory far left wing response adds to growing alarm across the state.
